Nos llega una triste noticia de última hora: el cómico, actor y guionista Garry Shandling ha muerto a los 66 años. La policía ha comunicado que el estadounidense tuvo una "emergencia médica" y falleció en un hospital de Los Ángeles mientras que TMZ afirma que sufrió un ataque al corazón.
Nacido en Chicago, Shandling comenzó su carrera artística cuando se mudó a L.A. a principios de los 70 y vendió el guion para la serie 'Sanford e hijo' ('Sanford and Son'); mas adelante se daría a conocer en 'El Show de Johnny Carson', periodo que le lanzó a la fama y dio lugar en el futuro a las comedias televisivas 'It’s Garry Shandling’s Show' y 'El show de Larry Sanders', creadas y protagonizadas por él.
Shandling fue una estrella de la pequeña pantalla si bien realizó varias incursiones en el cine. Fue protagonista en '¿De qué planeta vienes?' ('What Planet Are You From?', 2000) y apareció en 'Hurlyburly' (1998), 'Zoolander' (2001), 'Enredos de sociedad' ('Town & Country', 2001), 'Ellas y ellos' ('Trust the Man', 2005) o 'Iron Man 2' (2010); además prestó su voz a personajes de 'Dr. Dolittle' (1998) o 'Vecinos invasores' ('Over the Hedge', 2006).
